    Description

For sale is a sterling silver luggage tag pendant. It is my belief that this is a reproduction tag, made to be worn as a pendant. I think it was cast from an original antique. In my research I have found two other tags with the exact same name engraved in them of the same motif, and I myself have two of these from the same estate. It means either someone named W.J. Allison had a ton of these tags in the 1900s or that it was cast and reproduced.
I am going out on a limb and guessing that these were possibly made by Dallas artist Foree Hunsicker. Hunsicker was well known in the Texas community for her ornate and beautifully made pieces inspired by Victorian era luggage tags. One of the things she was known for were these large chain link necklaces with a variety of faux luggage tags hanging off them. Often, not every single tag on the necklaces were stamped "Foree", and sometimes you see her single pieces simply marked "Sterling". Hunsicker's pieces were sold at trunk shows and small boutique settings and I know that her early items were not always signed with her artist marks. So that being said, I am about 90% sure these are Foree Hunsicker tags.
Each tag measures a hair under 1 3/8" wide, and are signed simply STERLING. If they are Hunsicker as I think, they date to the late 1980s or early 1990s. They are in good shape with minor signs of use, no major damage or abuse.
NOTE: I have two of these tags available. They are exactly identical. They have the same imperfections, the same engraved name, and the exact same flaws (small indentation on front, back top, and wear on engraving). It is my opinion they were cast from an original.
