    Signed Program
Original concert program from a Saturday, March 25, 1939 Popular Concert (Students') performance with the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall,  signed to front page by the American violinist.  The performance, which featured Field as soloist for Wieniawski's Concert for Violin and Orchestra in D minor, No. 2, Op. 22, also included Smetana's Overture to
    The Bartered Bride
and Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major.  Signatures from FIeld are uncommon.  8 pp.  Fine.  6 x 9 inches (15.2 x 22.9 cm.). Uncommon.
Field had a long and varied career.  After her debut performance at Town Hall in New York City, she played with prominent ensembles throughout the country.  During World War II, she was concertmaster for Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo's U.S. tour, and for several years she hosted a radio program on New York-based classical station WQXR.  She was the first violinist to record Charles Ives' Sonata No. 1 and 3 for violin and piano, and she played the United States premiere of Prokofiev's Violin Sonata No. 2 in D.
