    Description

    Stravinsky, Igor. (1882–1971)
    Signed Photograph with Oedipus Score
Exceptional vintage 6.5 x 9 inch original Grimm of Munich glossy photograph of the composer inspecting the score of his "Oedipus," signed clearly in blue ink “I. Stravinsky / July 1962.” In fine condition, with photographer’s stamps on the verso.
Stravinsky's "Opera-oratorio after Sophocles" was first performed as an oratorio in the Théâtre Sarah Bernhardt in Paris on 30 May 1927. It has also been presented on stage as an opera, including at the Stravinsky Festival at the Santa Fe Opera in the summer of 1962, where the present photograph was apparently signed and where the composer supervised the performance of this work.
