Description
Up for sale is a1943 ELGIN Model 600 Marine chronometer "Brass and Glass Case" and "Incomplete Movement", for Parts or Restoration
.
The parts in this sale are approximately 78 years old, and in generally good cosmetic condition for their age. Please note that some parts may have accumulated oxidation, light scratches, dried lubricant or other residue due to many decades of storage.
The
clock dial and the movement
have matching Elgin serial number 606.
The
clock dial
is in good condition, but it does have some spots of patina (i.e. age spots), some smudges, and has signs of wear from pressure from the screw-on-bezel at the extreme outside edge of the dial (see photos)
The
glass
is in good condition, but it does have a very fine and shallow 0.4 inch long scratch that is barely visible near the top of the "12" o'clock position.
The
brass tub
is in good condition, with some light scratches, dirt and superficial wear marks. There are no deep dents nor any deep scratches on the brass tub.
The
spring loaded dust seal disc
works properly, and is not "stuck".
The clock and case together weigh 3.6 pounds total.
These Elgin 600 brass cases are also fully fit-compatible with Hamilton Model 21 chronometer movements.
This item came from the estate of a former collector.
