One page autographed letter signed, Moscow, November 1, 1954. Offered with an original, youthful period glossy Soviet postcard photograph of the composer.
He writes to an unknown female:

Shostakovich's reputation was revived from his second denunciation after the death of Stalin in 1953. Eugene Mravinsky, the Music Director of the Leningrad Philharmonic and a legendary conductor in his own lifetime had performed the premiere of his 10th Symphony on December 17, 1953; 10 months after Stalin's death.
There is no way to tell what Shostakovich sent, to his greatest friend and supporter, but based on the fact that he felt compelled to write a note of thanks for the delivery in advance, he obviously still had concerns about doing such a thing himself.
