Chelsea U.S.Navy 6" 14E Marine Mechanical Clock, 1942 WWII, former Zig Zag

Chelsea U.S.Navy 6" 14E Marine Mechanical Clock serial number 278862 shipped from the Chelsea Factory to Arma Corporation (defense contractor) Feb 20, 1942. It appears that this clock would have been originally fitted with a zig zag mechanism, used to evade torpedos, but at some point seems to have been decommissioned. The holes where the electrical terminals protruded from the case were skillfully/professionally plugged (the outside surface is very smooth) and the zig-zag mechanisms removed. We suspect this happened while the clock was still in service.
No markings indicate which ship it might have come from. The previous owner, our relative, believes it may have been given to his family in the 1970s, perhaps by a ship's captain in the Ilwaco, WA area, near the mouth of the Columbia River. Unfortunately he doesn’t know any more about the clock.
7.25" diameter. Approximately 4" deep. Top hinged bezel. The clock has a spade style minute hand, spear style hour hand, and a moon style sweep hand. There are switches to stop and start the movement, and to adjust it faster or slower.
The finish has not been polished. The clock face and case show signs of wear from many years of service. The flange has 6 holes for mounting to the wall. It has not been maintained or wound regularly in the past few decades so it may need a little TLC, but when we wound it it seemed to keep fairly good time, maybe a little slow. Key included, believed to be original to the clock.
