Let me start with the history I know on this clock. I purchased this clock direct from the Clock Medic's shop. The Clock Medic is Leonard Taube, a retired Chelsea Company Master clockmaker. That was about 2 years ago.I live full time in a RV and I am down to two Chelsea 8 bell clocks. One is enough so I decided to put this on eBay. Before I would list it I sent it back to the Clock Medic to just go through it one more time. So, now after waiting to list it I am ready.
I have to good fortune of knowing a longtime Chelsea employee now retired. I asked him what was the best time period to buy a used clock from. Without hestitation he said the mid 70's. This clock serial number is 811356 which puts it to the mid 70's.
The base is very rare, it came from a 8.5" Grand Dial Chelsea Clock (the one I am keeping). A plain 8.5" base list for 5. at Chelsea.
Chelsea Clock Company: THE FIRST HUNDRED YEARS is the book that will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Chelsea clocks. This book is New, opened today for the first time to take picture.
The picture of the clock and a 4.5" base is to show just how big the clock is. Clock and base weigh 28.1 pounds. The case is 40+ years old and is starting to show sign of age, but over all I would give it a 7.5.
Options - I will entertain offers for the clock without base and presentation box and/or without the book. Please be specific on what your offer is for.
Thank you for taking to time to consider my listing.
