    Description

Autographed large 9” x 11.25” autographed letter by the Italian organist and professor on his letterhead, Milan, June 20, 1932.
The letter is congratulatory and un-translated.
Bossi (1976-1953) was born in the Como region of Italy.  His Father Pietro was a well known organist and his older brother Marco Enrico was also a well known organist and composer.  Adolfo was awarded a diploma in organ performance in 1898 and a further diploma in composition from the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.  Initially he was the organist of Chiesa di San Fedele in Milan, rising to the organist of the Duomo Milano in 1907.  He held the position until the year before his death in 1952.  While organist there and at the behest of Mussolini, the largest organ in Italy was built by Tamburini and Mascioni with Bossi’s advice.
Bossi was also the Director of the organ department and Professor of harmony and counterpoint at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan from1914-1941.  Bossi also composed a significant amount of sacred works for the organ, as well as piano pieces.
