    This strong photographic portrait of the dashing Tibbett
    is boldly inscribed, signed, and dated: "To Mme Blanche Marchesi with sincere admiration and kind personal regards from Lawrence Tibbett 1937".
    The 10" x 8" image has the blindstamp of the New York photographer David Berns.
    Lawrence Tibbett (1896-1940) sang hundreds of leading roles with the Metropolitan Opera Company from 1923 until 1950. He also had roles in numerous musical theatre productions and films.
    Blanche Marchesi (1863-1940) was a French mezzo-soprano and noted voice instructor.
