Description
This Miller J. Huggins Spalding GOLD MEDAL Autograph dates to the 1908 to 1911 time period. It is from the very first group of Spalding player endorsed bats. The AUTOGRAPH series came after the Gold Medal Autograph series in about 1912. This bat is 31 1/2" long, weighs about 38 ounces and has burned-in markings. No checking and very nice medium color and finish. The back side of the handle has a crack that was repaired with a few small nails and there is a piece missing form the knob as the photos will show. The crack does not show when the bat is displayed from the front. Miller Huggins played for the Cinci. Reds and St. Louis Cardinals from 1904 to 1916 but is best remembered for his time as a Yankees manager. He is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a "manager". Great piece of Spalding baseball bat history. The "Gold Medal" bats are becoming harder and harder to find. All inquiries welcome and will receive a reply.
