    Description

    Original 1890s Name Plate for A J Chase's Cold Blast Refrigeration. Plaque was recovered from a Wood Plank, with a few dozen 1890's Plaques from G&P  Engraving Company. Plank was most likely utilized for advertising at the Franklin Street Business, Showing different sizes and fonts to prospective customers. G&P was at the forefront of machine plaques in the 1890's utilizing a mix of Copper/Brass & lead/white metal. As we have encountered G&P name plates in the past, none in this condition, as it was never affixed to a Working Machine.

    "Chase's Cold Blast Refrigerators, manufactured by the Chase Refrigerating Company. This company are manufacturers of cold blast refrigerators for all purposes. The company was incorporated in 1891, and is officered as follows, viz: A. J. Chase, president; C. Chase, treasurer; W. A.Chase, secretary. The factory is a four-story brick building, splendidly equipped with new and improved machinery and ample steam power, and steady employment is given to fifty skilled hands. The company act as contractors for cold storage warehouses, steamship refrigerators, cars, slaughter houses, breweries, markets, freezers for poultry, fish, etc., and keep a full assortment of family refrigerators constantly on hand. The principle upon which these refrigerators are built is the only true principle of refrigeration. They are built in all sizes and forms for the cottage, the market, hotel, dairy, steamer, cold storage house, railroad car, etc. Over five thousand railroad cars, used for transporting beef from the West to the East, have been constructed upon the Chase refrigerator plan; while the Chase refrigerators are in use upon over one hundred English steamers engaged in the fresh beef trade; and the largest cold-storage warehouse in the world was constructed from the designs of this company"
